Genoa’s Cottonwood Cottage Announces Official Opening
Newest Restaurant and Bar In Genoa to Open On August 5
Genoa, Nev.—August 1, 2016— Cottonwood Cottage, Carson Valley’s newest place to eat, drink and be married, today announced it is officially opening on Friday, August 5. Located at the site of the old Tombstone Tap & Grill and the former Inn Cognito at 202 Genoa Lane in Genoa, the casual-dining restaurant gets its name from the cottonwood trees that adorn the property and whose leaves left indelible prints on the concrete floors. The restaurant will initially be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, serving lunch and dinner from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Menu items feature BBQ cuisine, which can be enjoyed indoors or outside in the newly-landscaped “backyard.”

From casual dining to formal events, Cottonwood Cottage promises a unique experience to everyone who visits. The bar, aptly named Cottonwood Spirits, features reclaimed barn wood that punctuates the rustic look and feel of the 125+ year-old property.
In addition to a restaurant and bar, Cottonwood Cottage is a destination for events--both private and public--on nearly an acre of property that boasts one of the only bocce ball courts in Northern Nevada. Please visit the website to see a schedule of upcoming events, including Oktoberfest in Genoa on October 1.
The restaurant is a joint venture between former Douglas High School teacher and local real estate investor, Brent Knittel, and repeat “Best of Reno” party and event planner/wedding coordinator, April Haymond.
“Genoa gets a fair share of visitors coming through for brief visits, but we wanted to create ‘stickiness’ for these visitors while also creating a place where locals can gather, eat and play,” said Knittel. “We now have that with Cottonwood Cottage, and we are excited to open as we head into popular end-of-summer events including Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations and Candy Dance.”
