One of Genoa's most celebrated pioneers was John "Snowshoe" Thompson, whose remarkable ski journeys across the Sierra Nevada delivered mail, medicine, and supplies during harsh winters when no one else could make the trip.
His courage and determination made him one of the true legends of the American West, and today he rests in the
historic Genoa Cemetery just minutes from Cottonwood Cottage.

Genoa Western Heritage Days
Each spring, Genoa celebrates its western roots during Genoa Western Heritage Days & Cowboy Festival.
